Photo of the Week - August 26, 2013

A couple of weeks back we ended our day's drive in Los Hueros before heading back home. I loved some of the image I had taken there, but unfortunately I had left my image stabilization switched "on" when the camera was still on the tripod that afternoon....not a good thing. So I had to get back over there to retake the images. Yesterday was that day and luckily the light was very similar to that first time there.

Photo of the Week - August 19, 2013

We decided to leave the night before and stay in Pueblo, Colorado for an appointment the next morning in Denver. I am glad we did because the drive up netted me some great images along the way in La Veta, Walzenburg and outside of Pueblo. This weeks image is from a storm east of Pueblo that slowly turned into a fireworks show during the drive. Unfortunately, that show also brought along some major rain and I wasn't able to get outside of the car to photograph some of the most amazing lightning. This image is one I was able to get before the rain really started to dump. It does show some great evening sunset light in the clouds along with a couple of smaller bolts.

Photo of the Week - August 12, 2013

Our last Sunday drive took us from south of Santa Fe up to Ocate and then back home to Taos by 9:30 pm. A total of around 350 miles. Not bad considering we didn't get started until around lunch time. I photographed a roping competition at Clint Mortensen's ranch, then up to Wagon Mound for some buffalo and ended in Los Hueros where this image was taken. The funny part about this image was I had a very pissed off bull huffing & puffing at me and dragging his front feet just like in the cartoons before a charge. He was probably 100 yards away at first and behind a fence, but a typical old wood branch & barb wire New Mexico fence. Once he started really making a yelping sound and got within about 30 feet of me......I told him "You win, I'm outta here", got in the car and drove away. But the light was really amazing.......

Photo of the Week - August 5, 2013

This next Saturday (August 10th) "Dog Days IV" an annual benefit presented by Mattress Mary (Mary Domito) & Friends to support the Stray Hearts Animal Shelter will be held here in Taos. There will be music, food and a silent auction all being held at the KTAOS Music Center. I have donated this weeks "Photo of the Week" to the silent auction to help raise funds for the shelter. It is a 11" x 14" print mounted on an archival 16" x 20" board, having a value of $200. I hope those of you that do attend the event will check out the auction and help bid up the price of my image to help the shelter.
