Photo of the Week - April 28, 2014

This image is from yesterday evening. Most of yesterday we had heavy cloud cover with a little drizzle and some very strong winds, but later in the day I noticed some clearing starting along the west horizon. Here in Taos when the western sky clears at the end of the day, the sunset light can be spectacular. Add some previous night dusting of snow on the mountains...it makes for some beautiful color. We decided to go for a drive up around Arroyo Seco and to a particular spot that always has been good to me and my camera. I came away with quite a few great images there but wanted something different for this weeks image. We found this old grove along the Rim Road above Valdez. The fruit tree blooms, the green grass and white snow of Taos Mountain together with the bright adobe color of the ruin all come together in some beautiful color.
