This weeks image was from last Sunday during our early morning jaunt to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge south of Socorro. It was still a little early in the year for the hoards of sandhills & snow geese to be filling the air around the refuge, but there was still some nice fall color in the trees and the early morning mist always adds some drama to any image.

Yesterday I took a return student from a couple years back on another photo tour. She had requested one of my tours that goes up into southern Colorado this time. She also loved trains and luckily this weekend was the last running of the Cumbres & Toltec Narrow Gauge railway for the season. The weather was awesome and the areas around the railroad still has some fall color remaining. This image was taken at the Cumbres Pass Station (Elev. 10022 feet) as the train was pulling into the station.

Now with this image I have officially caught up with my "Photo of the Week" postings. This was taken in Missouri a little over a week ago along the original 1930's section of Route 66 highway in Spencer, Missouri. Someone has spent quite a bit of time and effort in keeping this wide spot in the road looking very much like it did decades ago.Very surprising to drive up to it and see the gas station pricing and pumps very much the same as when I was a kid.

Okay. Here is another image for my Photo of the Week collection getting one step closer to catching up from my 3 weeks back east. This was located in West Virginia on our first chauffeured (thank you Susan) photo tour around the hills Morgantown. This is Decker's Creek on our first days drive up towards Oakland, Maryland. I had hoped for a little more fall colors while we were there ( a few weeks early I guess), but the beauty of this area was almost overwhelming with out the addition of the colors from the trees. The main theme that we witnessed throughout all our drives back east was "Water"!!! Everywhere....definitely no shortage back there.

First, my apologies. It has been a few weeks since I last posted my Photo of the Week. My excuse is that I was out on the road for the last 3 weeks. We traveled back east to see my wife's family in West Virginia and book ended that visit by going through places I have never been to before or in the case of this week's image through Indiana where I born and had not been back there in over 43 years. This image is from the week of September 22nd, so at least it is close the when I was suppose to post my weekly image. The location is in Bridgeton, Indiana and was the last place we stopped this day before the sun was completely gone. We had met my cousin Debbie in Terre Haute that morning and the three of us went on a day long tour of the barns & covered bridges of the counties right around Terre Haute. Indiana is such a beautiful state and with camera in tow, I had limitless farm and covered bridge scenes to focus on....just what I was hoping for when we scheduled the trip. I hope you enjoy my little departure from the southwest images that I am known for.
