Photo of the Week - February 24, 2014

Sunset at the Bosque del Apache Nature Refuge a few weeks back at moonrise. The sandhill cranes just happened to fly into the frame at the most opportune time. This is one of the most beautiful places in New Mexico and if you ever have a chance to get there during the birding season, do not hesitate.

Photo of the Week - February 17, 2014

While going through a few of my older images I found a few western themed images when developed and processed using an old time vignette and toning, brought a new life to the images. This is Anthony, an award winning Native Omaha dancer. I photographed him south of Santa Fe a few years back with a few of my workshop students.

Photo of the Week - February 10. 2014

This old truck is located in front of one of the most beautiful views around Taos. Unfortunately there is so much construction material and crap around it I could not include both into one image. So what I was left with were closeups of the truck and angle attempts to crop out as much of the junk around the truck as I could. I do love this windshield though. It has seen better days but boy is there character in that glass. This would just be another old truck picture without that shattered personality. This image is also a combination of both Black & White and Color developing. I think this method adds some additional personality. Hope you think so too.

Photo of the Week - February 3, 2014

My wife saw a photo of this church on Facebook a few weeks back and immediately started researching a day trip for us. Getting there from Taos was quite the drive but we always love the excitement of exploring new places. Colonias is miles off the main road and the single thought running though my head once I pulled into the village was ......."What are these people doing way out here?" It was so quiet and remote that the thump of my tires rolling over the rocks in the road could be easily heard all over town. I'm sure no one pulls into this village without someone hearing or seeing you long before you get to the first driveway.....but Colonias was "So New Mexico".
