Photo of the Week - June 23, 2014

Last Saturday, I took a photo tour group out to Chaco Culture National Historic Park for the day and some park sponsored summer solstice activities. This year, the park invited youth dancers from the Laguna Pueblo to help celebrate the beginning of the summer season with native song, dance and remembrance of their ancestors who created the historic sites we were there to visit. This image was from their first of two dance sessions that day.

I want to thank Barbara, Brian Julie, Dave and Jeremy for a day that will not be forgotten.

Photo of the Week - June 16, 2014

This is an image from my photo tour yesterday with Kate from Ft. Collins & Jay from Chicago (Jay is Kate's step-dad and yesterday's tour was a Father's Day present from her). Our entire tour was a round trip from Santa Fe to Taos and back (long day). In a section of the drive during the late afternoon we had driven pretty much the entire length of the Rio Grande Gorge from the Gorge Bridge to Pilar in search of an animal siting (preferably some Big Horn), but nothing. One of last turns before the main road gave us this beautiful image right along the Rio Grande.

Photo of the Week - June 9. 2014

Earlier today I was undecided about which image to use for this weeks Photo of the Week. I was also expecting a delivery of a rental lens today, so I came up with the plan to use an image from this afternoon....regardless of what it might be of. Well, Taos didn't let me down. We were just heading north toward the Gorge Bridge from a drive up along the river from Pilar when we both saw something ahead of us in the road that didn't seem to be moving very fast or at all. Neither of us could figure out what it was. Chris even said "it looks like a covered wagon". She was very close. I have learned to "Expect the Unexpected" around here.

Photo of the Week - June 2, 2014

Yes, I know....a photo of an abandoned old car from New Mexico, how cliche'. But I love the rusty colors in this one and the fact that it is a 1935 Plymouth and is in the middle of an old mining ghost town added to my intrigue. The story behind how this car ended up all the way out in the middle of "Nowhere", New Mexico would be an interesting story to hear.
