Taos almost always has beautiful sunsets, especially during our monsoon season (right now) and last night's was no exception. This sunset was also the end of the day for one of the photo tours I offer around the area. It was a beautiful way for my clients to end their day on the road with me. With scene's like this for my out of town guests, promotions for my tours are pretty easy!!

This weeks image is from a little village near Socorro, New Mexico called Lemitar. We had just finished dinner after my day out at the VLA. As we walked out the door of the restaurant I saw that there was going to be some great color in the sunset. I had to find a good spot to photograph from. Luckily up the freeway from Socorro I found Lemitar and this church down in the village.

A couple days back we took a ride out to Historic Cimarron and the beautiful Philmont Ranch east of Taos. One place I have always had good luck with interesting images is the old Kit Carson Museum on the ranch. This day in particular there were a few people working the museum in period clothing and I was lucky enough to have the entire front row seat (no one else was there) for some old time blacksmithing. He asked me if I wanted to participate...I thought better of it and said I would only have helped in burning the place down, so I declined. I got a chuckle from him.

I am usually driving by this rock monolith in the late afternoon but a couple weeks back I met a friend of mine out at Ghost Ranch before sunrise for a hike up to Chimney Rock. Between the lack of sleep the night before and just generally out of shape, the climb was interesting to say the least. Lots of great images though. Maybe some future "Photo of the Week" images. This image was taken on my drive back to Taos.
