The Taos area is blanketed with Magpie's and since we see then all of the time I normally do not pay too much attention to them unless they do something to piss me off....which does happen quite a bit. This guy was hogging the front yard bird feeder a couple weeks back on one of our spring snow mornings and of course creating quite the mess on the ground around the feeder. But because of the light and the reflections from the snow the details in his feathers and color really stood out to me...hence me taking the time to photograph a Magpie. One cool part I can see in my hi-res version is the reflection of our courtyard in his eye.

Last evenings full moon rise just happened to coincide with some beautiful red sunset color illuminating the Sangre de Cristos, Pueblo Peak and the remnants of the storm clouds from a 1/2 hour long wind storm that came and disappeared just a couple hours earlier.

This last week I took a couple (Steve & MJ) from Lancaster County Pennsylvania on a photo tour south of Santa Fe. We explored places in Canoncito, Lamy, Galisteo, Cerrillos and Madrid. We had a blast. The light cloud cover gave us some fantastic filtered light the whole afternoon. This image is from the historic Lamy railroad station. I have been dozens of times and rarely have I had the chance to photograph the train at the station and never have I had my wide angle on the camera. Luckily this time both happened and I love the vanishing point perspective of this image. Timing is everything...worked out this time.

Sunset at Shiprock, New Mexico. Even in silhouette most New Mexican's will know the name and where this location is. It is one of New Mexico's iconic landmarks.
