Photo of the Week - June 6. 2016

Rio Pueblo Waterfall - Pilar, NM - 2016

Our great friends Colin & Nikki Bushell from The Gap, Australia stayed with us for a few days this last week. Colin is a fantastic photographer and writer and is documenting his way around the world which included a few days stop over here in Taos along the way. He had been seeing many of my images on Facebook for the last few years and of course had a list of places he wanted to see for himself once here in town. We spent 2 very full days on the back roads of norther New Mexico visiting the High Road, Llano San Juan, Chimayo, Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, Rio Grande Gorge and all three bridges, Mabel Dodge Lujan House, Martinez Hacienda, San Francisco de Asis Church......and many more. By the time we arrived back home each evening we were all so tired it was really just a quick beer and then off to bed for us all. I hope they were very pleased with the places we went and not too exhausted to enjoy them all. Next time I hope they have more time to stay with us...so much more to see.

The above image was one of the many locations we visited that I have not posted on this blog before. It is just upstream on the Rio Pueblo before it joined the Rio Grande, all in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.

Colin is very talented and dedicated, plus he's a laugh. Lucky boy to spend time with you and learn more. Lovely shots from all over on his FB page. Is this shot his?

Colin & Nikki are old friends of my wife's from when they still lived in London. She had not seen them in over 20 years. You are right, that are both really great people. I took them both around the Taos area to show them some of the sights. Colin had been seeing many of my images over the last few years on Facebook and was really anxious to see some of the places in person. This waterfall area on the Rio Pueblo was one of his favorites. To answer your question about this image...this is one of mine but I am sure that Colin has or will soon post a similar image from our time there.
